Walter Mazzarri is an Italian football coach, born on October 1, 1961, in San Vincenzo, Italy. He began his football career as a player in the 1980s, playing as a defender in various Italian clubs.
In 2001, Mazzarri started his coaching career when he became the coach of AC Reggiana in the Italian Serie B. He then moved to other Italian clubs like Livorno, Sampdoria, Napoli, and Inter Milan, where he achieved remarkable success.
Mazzarri's most successful stint as a coach was with Napoli from 2009-2013, where he won the Coppa Italia in 2012. He helped the team finish runners-up in the Serie A in 2013, their highest finish in the league in over two decades. In 2013, he moved to Inter Milan but could not replicate the same success.
He also coached English club Watford from 2016-2018, leading them to finish 11th in the Premier League in his first season.
Currently, Mazzarri is the head coach of Italian club Cagliari Calcio, where he was appointed in February 2021.
